Alberta Student Film Festival www.asfilmfest.ca
The Alberta Student Film Festival (ASFF), hosted annually by The University of Alberta Society of Creative Filmmaking, provides a venue for both emerging and seasoned Albertan student filmmakers. The festival was created to provide the opportunity for students from all over Alberta to have their motion picture projects screened for the public, as well as provide a network among Albertan students who have similar interests and goals. The ASFF screenings occur in conjunction with the University of Alberta Society for Creative Filmmaking's Annual Showcase. The Festival is open to all post-secondary and high school students who are Alberta residents, with no limitations on genre, topic or length, with awards offered in various categories. |

Show Us Your Shorts - A Festival of Short Films www.showusyourshorts.ca
Show Us Your Shorts (SUYS) is a submission-based festival of short films begun as practicum for Film 441: Film Festivals class by University of Calgary undergraduate student and SUYS Executive Director Jeanette Burman. It continues to grow beyond the University in its second year for 2010.
SUYS believes festivals have the unique ability to generate community, and use of film to express immediate concepts, ideas, and images shaping our worlds. SUYS aims to promote and vocalize local, national, and international interests through all genres and conventions, while keeping the “festive” in film. We strive to build positive relationships within our own and extended communities by ensuring the accessibility of film as art, expression, and medium. |
