Working in Alberta

Alberta has a long and rich production history. A filmmaking destination since the early 1900’s, Alberta has starred as many locations worldwide, and hosted many of the best studios and networks.

Alberta is home to both Emmy and Oscar nominated production crews. We’ve been in the business of motion picture production since the early 1900’s, and our experience shows in our talented crews and performers.
Alberta also offers a comprehensive range of services to suit your production, including studios, camera, lighting and grip gear, production vehicles and any special equipment needs.

Through your entire production, you will feel at home thanks to quality accommodations, fine restaurants, and thriving cultural communities.

Labour Market Opinion
Prior to arrival in Canada where work permits are required for entry, productions are required to apply for a Labour Market Opinion (LMO) from Human Resources and Social Development Canada. A LMO is designed to take into account career development and employment opportunities for Canadians. A LMO must be obtained before a work permit is issued. A copy of the application must be faxed to the appropriate guild and union and the Alberta Film Commission F:403.297.6168.
